The Importance of the Last Sweep Through
Posted by Amanda on 8/4/11
Once you have finished with your vacation on Long Island, it is time to pack up everything and go back home. For many this is the worst part about a vacation. You have had so much fun seeing everything there is to see, you simply do not want to go home. Many people feel as if they are ready to move in to a location simply on the vacation alone. If this is your case, congratulations. You are sure to find a great home on Long Island. If this is not your case, you need to make sure you pack up your room correctly when you are leaving to make sure you do not leave anything behind. There is nothing more important than being diligent when you are packing up the room.
The first thing that you can do to make a difference in the pack up is to make sure you have stayed organized while you were on vacation. This will make it easier for you to find everything when you are going to put it away in your luggage. This does not mean you do not unpack your suitcase. In fact, it is easier to stay organized if you are not trying to keep everything confined in a small suitcase. Most rooms will have adequate drawer space for all of your clothes and other items. You should use the space wisely in order to know where everything is at all times. This will also help you while you are on vacation.
When you are packing your bags to leave, it is always helpful if you have a packing system. This will assure you pack everything into your bag which came out of it. You do not have to keep a list of everything which was in your suitcase, but some people find this is a great way to make sure you do not forget anything when you are packing up your suitcase even before you leave on your trip. If you buy anything while on your trip, it is a good idea to simply keep those in their own bags when you are getting ready to leave. This way you will not overstuff your suitcase, or take up room where something else should be.
Most importantly, you should always conduct a last sweep of the room. This means checking the beds, under the beds, in drawers and in the bathroom. You should literally turn everything over seeing as it is the small things which can be left in the room the easiest. The maids will be by later to clean the room, so do not fret if you mess up the bed while you are searching the room. In most cases, the best idea is to start at the back of the room and work towards the door. That way when you get to the door, you can simply turn off the light and go home.
