The 5 Things You Should Do Before Your Hotel Stay in Long Island

Posted by Amanda on 4/8/11

For many, the most time that they spend on their hotel room comes before they actually decide on a hotel in Long Island. People spend hours trying to find the best hotel for their stay. Once they have found the hotel, they are complacent, accepting the price that they have agreed on.

There is more work to be done after you have chosen your Long Island hotel. While this work is optional, it can easily save you money, and can easily help to upgrade your overall hotel experience. These are the five things that you should do after you have chosen your hotel in Long Island, but before you actually stay in the hotel.

Check Prices Online

Start to look for the prices of your hotel room online a few days before your actual hotel stay. If you find that your hotel is going for a lower rate, you may be able to call the hotel. While they are not obligated to, they may be willing to match that price for the stay that you have already booked.

Call for a Lower Price

An easier step can be to simply call up the hotel that you are about to stay at and ask for a lower price. While you may need to speak to a manager, they may be willing to give you a hidden discount or price cut.

Check Competition for Prices

If you have chosen a hotel room that gives you a cancellation opportunity, look around to the hotel competition in the area. If you find a lower price, you may be able to get your hotel to match that lower price. If they fail to do so, you can simply cancel your reservation after making one with the other hotel.

Ask for an Upgrade

Sometimes, hotels have extra rooms that they have not filled, and they will not be able to fill them for the night. If you ask, you may upgraded to a nicer room for no extra cost.

Ask about Amenities

Ask about the various freebees and amenities that you get at the hotel that you are going to stay at. If the pool is down, or the workout room is down, you may be able to get a lowered price on your hotel room.

You will not always see savings and upgrades when you approach hotels with these five questions and actions. There is a chance that you will be able to lower the price of your hotel, however, making it an important step for anyone who is about to go on a trip to Long Island.
