Swimming in the Hotel Pool
Posted by Amanda on 3/21/11
Your vacation on Long Island is a very special time in your life. You have been getting ready to go on vacation for quite some time and now it is actually time for you to enjoy your vacation rather than just thinking about it. This is why there are some things you should keep in mind when you are enjoying yourself. While you do not need to go over the top in making sure you stay safe, it is a good idea to keep some things in mind while on vacation. This will allow you to enjoy your vacation rather than having to spend time in the hospital or even worse.
The hotel pool is one location in a hotel which most people do not see as a danger even though it can cause you a lot of problems both now and in the future. One of the ways in which you need to be careful is when you are drinking next to the pool. It is important to remember that alcohol dehydrates your body. When you are sitting in the sun, you will be dehydrated in this manner as well. If you drink too much while sitting in the sun, you can actually get very sick in the process. Make sure you only have a few drinks while sitting by the pool before you go along to your next adventure.
It is also very important when you swim in the pool that you bath before and after you get into the pool. This is because of the chemicals which are in the pool as well as the dirt you can bring to the pool and take away from it when you swim in the pool. You do not have to take a full shower, but it is a good idea to make sure you are at least rinsing off with good hot water in order to get as much of the chemicals and dirt off of your body as possible. This is important for all members of the family who have been swimming in the pool.
Pool safety should also be observed when you are enjoying the facilities. This is because almost no one of the hotels will employ lifeguards to keep you safe while you are swimming. Parents should also keep a close eye on their children and should discourage them from running around the pool. The ground will be wet and can get slick enough for them to slip and fall. While a rash will hurt, it is also possible to hit their head on the side of the pool and drown. Simply by following proper pool safety, you will be able to enjoy your vacation more.
