Choose the Amenities You Will Actually Use
Posted by Amanda on 7/31/10
Vacationing on Long Island is exciting. You get to see many great things. You get to enjoy the sun and the sand. You get to get away from everything and do all the things you want to do, or you can simply do nothing at all. It all depends on what you are looking to do while you are on your vacation. When choosing your hotel, the one thing people will do is get too excited about a hotel simply because they are looking to have the best possible time they can have. This means signing up for a hotel which is simply more than they would ever possibly need in terms of the amenities they would actually use while on vacation.
When booking your hotel, it is easy to get caught up with all of the great amenities they offer you to stay there. This does not mean you have to stay there. In fact, if you are staying at a hotel simply because they have something like a fitness room and you will never use the fitness room, you can just as easily stay at a less expensive hotel that does not have a fitness room. This will help you to save money in the long run, and might even get you a room in a hotel which is much closer to the activities you will doing every day.
It is important to remember the hotel is simply where you will be sleeping at night. Unless you plan on spending all of your time at the hotel taking advantage of what they have to offer you, it does not make much sense to pay additional money for things you will never use. The better idea is to get a room which will make convenient the things you are actually on vacation for. This can include attractions in the area as well as shopping you plan on doing in the many different boutique stores the area has to offer.
The question many people have for those booking a hotel is why they would make sure to have a pool if they are right next to the beach. This is the case on Long Island. Now, some people do prefer to swim in the pool rather than in the ocean. This is perfectly understandable. If you are one of these people and the weather will permit it, than by all means, you should get a hotel room which will offer a pool.
Just remember things like the mini-bar while fun at the time will cost you more in the end. Make the decisions which will allow you to have the most fun while you are on vacation. This does not mean you have to make the decisions which will end up costing you the most money in the end.
