4 Things to Avoid when Looking for Long Island Hotels

Posted by Amanda on 2/15/10

There are multiple things to take into account when looking for a hotel in Long Island. You want to make sure that you find the perfect hotel for your stay. You want to be able to find a hotel that has everything you want.

Unfortunately, it can be easy to get caught up in the hotel-selection process. You may choose the first hotel that you see out of convenience, or may be blinded by one small aspect of a hotel. These are the four major things to avoid when looking for Long Island Hotels that will help you to find the best hotel possible.

The Pool Trap

Families are constantly pulled in by the lure of a pull. While the hotel may have a pool and spa available, it may not make up for the poor condition of the rest of the hotel. Do not make the pool your number one priority. When you have a list of hotels that meet your other needs, you can simply choose the hotel that offers a pool.

Well-Written Websites

There are companies that feature some of the best websites in the business, promising you a perfect stay in one of their rooms. Unfortunately, the hotels fail to deliver. Avoid failing into the lure of these well-written websites. Check customer reviews for the hotel to understand whether or not they live up to their own billing.

Hidden Fees

While most hotels are upfront about the fees that are associated with their hotel stays, others are not. Be sure to fully understand any taxes, fees, deductions, or deposits that may come with a hotel stay.

Ignoring the Distance

Some people will ignore the distance between the hotel and their desired destination just because of a slightly lower rate. At the end of the day, you may want to pay a little extra for the convenience of easier travel between your room and your destination.

You want to make sure that your needs are met, but that you are not sacrificing quality or price to meet those needs. Take the time to focus on the important aspects of the hotel. When you find hotels that meet these guidelines, you can become picky and narrow those choices down. While it may make some time, this process will help you to find the best hotels available.
